Hendersonville Celebrates Completion of French Broad River Intake and Water Treatment Facility Expansion

On February 13, 2026, Hendersonville held a 'First Sip' ceremony to mark the completion of the French Broad River Intake and Water Treatment Facility Filter Expansion. This project enhances water supply resilience for over 80,000 residents and businesses by providing an additional water source, improving drought resilience, and increasing capacity from 12 million gallons per day to 15 million gallons per day. Funded by water customers and backed by the NCDEQ, the project took ten years to complete, with construction starting in 2022.
