Hidroelectrica's Electricity Output Drops 15% in 2025, Plans New Storage Projects

Hidroelectrica's net electricity production decreased by 15% to 11,847 GWh in 2025, alongside a 15% drop in hydro output and a 9% decline in wind energy. To counter reduced internal production, electricity purchases surged by 175% to 2,209 GWh.

Total energy sold fell by 4% to 14,056 GWh, even as supply sales to customers rose by 30%. The company is developing a 300 MW pumped storage plant with Hidro Blue Energy SRL and has partnered with EDF Power Solutions for the Tarniţa-Lăpuşteşti project.
