Hong Kong Government Launches Five-Year Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan from 2026

The Hong Kong Government will introduce a five-year waste reduction and recycling plan starting in 2026-27, aiming to enhance green development. The plan includes expanding a 24/7 self-service recycling network and leveraging technology to extract valuable materials from waste.

Additionally, the first registration tax for electric vehicles will be waived until March 2028, while support for green industries and hydrogen development is emphasized. The Government aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 and is implementing various projects under the $400 million Green Tech Fund.
