Hungary's Ministry of Energy has allocated HUF 41 billion (EUR 106 million) for geothermal energy development under the Jedlik Ányos Energy Program, which includes HUF 10 billion in non-repayable subsidies for initial well drilling. The initiative aims to enhance energy self-sufficiency and sustainability, featuring proposals for industrial energy storage, biogas production, and district heating, alongside HUF 12 billion for grid-connected geothermal electricity generation. The National Geothermal Energy Utilization Concept seeks to double domestic geothermal energy use by 2030, building on significant production increases since 2010.
