HydroSurv Partners with GeoAcoustics to Develop USV-Based 3D Sub-Bottom Profiling for Offshore Wind Projects

WIND ENERGY

HydroSurv has secured funding from the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) to develop a 3D sub-bottom profiling system using an uncrewed surface vessel (USV). As the lead partner, HydroSurv is collaborating with GeoAcoustics Ltd, which will integrate its GeoPulse 2 sub-bottom profiler into the USV.

GeoPulse 2 offers enhanced power output, allowing for improved penetration of up to 80 meters in clay and 20 meters in sand, with a resolution of 6 cm. This system is designed for reliability in various sea states, making it suitable for autonomous operations. The project aims to enhance offshore wind farm planning, cable routing, and marine research by creating detailed 3D imaging of the sub-seafloor environment, supported by high-quality data acquisition.
