Hyperion Renewables, Saft, and Omexom Begin Construction of Battery Storage Projects in Portugal

ENERGY STORAGE

Hyperion Renewables has announced the construction of its first battery energy storage projects in Portugal, in partnership with Omexom Portugal and Saft. The projects, located in Estremoz and Évora, will provide a combined 16 MW of injection power and 64 MWh of storage capacity, co-located with solar PV plants totaling 81 MWp.

The systems will store energy during high solar production for use during peak demand, improving grid stability and efficiency. They are expected to support energy supply for over 5,000 households daily.

Funded partially by the EU's Recovery and Resilience Plan, the projects will be executed by Omexom, with Saft supplying battery technology. They aim to create 25 to 30 jobs during construction and operation, contributing to local economic development.
