Ib Vogt Proposes 30MW Solar Farm Near Hawick Amid Community Opposition
ENERGY STORAGEPOWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION
Ib Vogt has submitted a proposal for a 30 megawatt solar farm near Hawick, which includes a battery energy storage system and aims to support the transition to a low-carbon economy. However, the project faces community opposition over concerns regarding its visibility, potential wildlife disruption, and lack of economic benefits, with local councillor Watson McAteer formally opposing it. If approved, the solar farm could begin construction by 2027 and generate electricity for approximately 8,600 homes, while also providing a £12,000 annual community benefit fund.
