Iberdrola España has launched Spain's first large-scale battery storage systems in Alarcón, Cuenca, with a combined capacity of 120 MWh that can supply zero-emissions electricity to over 13,000 homes for up to two hours. This initiative, which integrates with existing photovoltaic plants, aims to enhance grid stability and has created over 100 jobs, while also contributing to significant CO₂ emissions reductions. The project is part of a broader effort supported by €37.5 million in funding for economic recovery and transformation.
