IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Develops Low-Cost Catalyst for Green Hydrogen Production
HYDROGEN
Researchers at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, led by Dr. Sk Riyajuddin, have developed a low-cost electrode material to enhance green hydrogen production. This innovation addresses the high costs associated with noble metal catalysts like platinum and ruthenium.
The new catalyst utilizes abundant materials such as molybdenum and vanadium, aligning with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. The research indicates potential for significant reductions in production costs, with applications in various decarbonizing sectors.
