India Launches First Indigenous 64-Bit Microprocessor Dhruv64
SEMICONDUCTOR
India introduced its first fully indigenous 64-bit microprocessor, Dhruv64, on December 15, 2025. Developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing under the Digital India RISC-V Initiative, Dhruv64 is a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor built on open-source RISC-V architecture.
This launch aims to enhance domestic semiconductor production, reduce reliance on imports, and strengthen security in critical sectors. Dhruv64 is part of a broader strategy to advance indigenous chip design in India.
