India Plans Concurrent Human Missions in Space and Deep Sea by 2027
India is set to conduct parallel human missions in outer space and the deep sea by 2027, as announced by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. This initiative includes a manned dive to 500 meters under the Deep Ocean Mission, utilizing the indigenous submersible MATSYA, with plans to reach 6,000 meters by 2027.
The missions aim to exploit India's extensive marine resources and strengthen its position in the global blue economy. In the space sector, reforms have transformed India into a confident space-faring nation, promoting private participation and fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem.
This dual endeavor represents a significant advancement in India’s scientific capabilities, supporting the nation’s growth goals as it approaches its centenary of independence in 2047. These efforts highlight India's commitment to exploring new frontiers while balancing technological innovation with ethical responsibilities.
