India's First Hydrogen Locomotive Trial Begins in Jind, Haryana

India has initiated a trial run of its first hydrogen locomotive in Jind, Haryana. The engine began its journey at 7 am, initially assisted by a diesel engine, and is being tested for various technical aspects.
If successful, it may enter regular service on the Jind-Sonipat route. Developed at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the locomotive boasts a 1200-horsepower engine with a maximum speed of 150 km/h, aiming to reduce travel time significantly.
