India's Solar Power Revolution: A Pathway to Sustainable Energy Independence
CARBON CAPTURE
India's solar power sector has experienced extraordinary growth since the launch of the Solar Mission in 2010, skyrocketing from under 0.2 GW to over 100 GW in capacity. This surge has been accompanied by a dramatic decrease in costs, dropping from ?17 per unit to around ?2.50 per unit. As a result, solar energy has become far more economical than electricity produced from new coal-based thermal plants, marking a significant shift towards renewable energy in the country.
