Indonesia Launches Innovative Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant in Sumatra
HYDROGENGEOTHERMAL
Indonesia's state-backed Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) has commenced construction of a pioneering green hydrogen pilot plant in Ulubelu, Sumatra, aiming to produce 100 kilograms of hydrogen daily using anion exchange membrane electrolysis. With a $3 million investment, this facility is expected to operational by 2026, positioning Indonesia as a key player in the global clean energy supply chain. The project aligns with Indonesia's 2060 net-zero emissions goal, leveraging geothermal energy for sustainable fuel production and supporting downstream applications in low-carbon industries.
