Indra has announced the start of construction of Spain's first factory for gallium nitride-based chips in Vigo. The project, initiated in late January 2026, is in partnership with SPARC Foundry, which holds a 37% stake.

This facility aims to meet the growing global demand for gallium nitride technology, essential in defense and aerospace sectors, and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. The shift from gallium arsenide to gallium nitride is deemed critical for modern electronics due to improved power, density, and thermal robustness.
