Ingka Acquires 42,300ha for Forestry in New Zealand, Plans Further Expansion

CARBON CAPTURE

Ingka has secured government approval to acquire 42,300 hectares in New Zealand for forestry, including 23,700 hectares of farmland for conversion and 18,600 hectares of existing forests. The company plans to plant nearly 3,000 hectares of pine over the next five years, expanding its forestry holdings to approximately 30,000 hectares of production forests and 11,000 hectares dedicated to biodiversity. This initiative faces opposition from farming communities, particularly regarding a proposed 'farm-to-forest Ban' bill.
