Iowa Approves 108 Biofuel Infrastructure Projects to Expand E15 Access

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program Board approved 108 projects to enhance biofuel infrastructure across 46 counties, with total funding requests near $4.59 million. Notable allocations include $32,181 to Grieder Oil, Inc. in Belle Plaine and $75,000 to Gills Property Inc in Williamsburg for E15 initiatives.

The funding breakdown comprises approximately $3.99 million for 93 ethanol projects and $600,143 for 15 biodiesel projects. Since 2006, nearly $70 million has been invested in renewable fuels infrastructure in Iowa, with matching contributions of about $280 million from local retailers.

Additionally, Iowa is set to require most fuel retailers to offer E15 by January 1, 2026, under the E15 Access Standard established in 2022. The Department is accepting further grant applications for infrastructure enhancements.
