The International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) has introduced a Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) sequestration benchmark for the global wine sector. This initiative, developed with the Porto Protocol Foundation and other organizations, compiles data from sixteen vineyard projects across twelve wineries in Europe and the Americas, emphasizing the variability in soil carbon outcomes due to differing climates and management practices.
