Jera and bp have applied for EPBC approval to construct the Blue Mackerel offshore wind project, a 1 GW facility in Victoria's Gippsland region, featuring up to 70 turbines. This project, which aims to reduce coal dependence and has been granted Major Project Status, will connect to the Victorian electricity network and is expected to be operational for 40 years after a 2-3 year construction period.
