JERA Nex bp Withdraws from New Zealand Offshore Wind Development Ahead of New Permitting Regime
WIND ENERGY
JERA Nex bp, a joint venture between Japan Electric Power Resources Aggregation and BP, has withdrawn from offshore wind development in New Zealand, joining other developers leaving before the implementation of a new permitting regime. The company had shown interest in opportunities along the South Taranaki coastline and recently opposed a seabed mining proposal in the region. This exit reflects growing concerns among developers regarding the regulatory environment in New Zealand's offshore wind sector.
