Japan's largest power generation company, JERA, anticipates significant challenges in securing liquefied natural gas (LNG) over the next decade, particularly as existing long-term contracts expire. CEO Yukio Kani highlighted the risks of underestimating LNG demand, which could lead to purchasing expensive spot cargoes. While JERA currently prioritizes LNG for energy stability, they foresee a shift toward offshore wind and green ammonia becoming mainstream by the 2030s, underscoring ongoing investments in these renewable energy sources.
