JGC and Asahi Kasei Launch Renewable Ammonia Production in Fukushima
HYDROGENAMMONIA
JGC and Asahi Kasei have launched renewable ammonia production at the Namie Green Ammonia Integrated Control System Demonstration Field (NAMICS) in Fukushima, featuring a 10MW alkaline electrolysis plant. The project aims to supply renewable ammonia to local thermal power stations for flue-gas denitration, while insights gained will support a larger pilot plant for green chemical production planned for fiscal 2027. Resonac Corporation is also involved, leveraging Japan’s subsidies for low-carbon hydrogen production.
