Joint Biogas Plant in Maisach Planned by Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck, and Starnberg for 2030
A joint biogas facility is set to be operational in Maisach by 2030, involving the districts of Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck, and Starnberg. The project requires additional districts to supply up to 15,000 tons of organic waste annually.
Initial feasibility studies for the estimated €54 to €78 million facility have yielded positive results. The biogas output is anticipated to meet the heating needs of Maisach, which has shown strong support for the project.
An estimated ten employees will be needed for operation, overseeing the facility and managing biogas sales. The GfA is leading the planning but cannot operate the facility without Starnberg's involvement.
A subsidiary of GfA will be established as a next step. Economic viability depends on processing 50,000 to 65,000 tons of organic waste yearly, necessitating additional municipal partners beyond the three involved districts.
