Joint Venture Edge and Orizon Secures R$ 450 Million BNDES Funding for Biogas Purification Plant in Paulínia
The joint venture between Edge, part of the Cosan group, and Orizon VR, known as Biometano Verde Paulínia S.A. (BVP), has received approximately R$ 450 million in financing from the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) for the construction of a biogas purification plant in Paulínia, SP.
Funding includes 80% from the Fundo Clima and 20% from the Finem line. The Onebio plant is expected to produce up to 225,000 m³ of renewable gas daily and is set to begin operations in early 2026. The project, initiated in 2023, aims to utilize biogas from urban waste at a landfill, thereby preventing the emission of 100,700 tons of CO2 equivalents annually. The plant's design is based on an existing facility in Pernambuco and will serve as a model for future expansions at other landfills.
