Kenya Launches National Carbon Registry to Enhance Climate Finance and Transparency
CARBON CAPTURE
Kenya has established a national carbon registry to improve the integrity of carbon credit markets. Unveiled in Nairobi by the Ministry of Environment and the National Environment Management Authority, it aims to track carbon projects, verify emissions reductions, and prevent double counting.
The initiative is part of Kenya's strategy to attract foreign investment while ensuring local community benefits. Germany has supported this project with €2.4 million. The registry is set to become operational this year.
