Kerala's Suchitwa Mission Revives Waste-to-Energy Plans at Brahmapuram

The Suchitwa Mission has initiated plans to establish a waste-to-energy (WTE) plant in Brahmapuram, Kerala, after the local government previously scrapped WTE projects in several cities, including Kochi. The mission has issued tenders for a transaction advisor to guide the project, which aims to process non-recyclable waste into energy.

The proposal comes in response to the challenges of managing approximately 10,000 tons of daily waste, of which 25% is non-biodegradable. Previous attempts to develop a WTE plant at the site were halted due to financial issues with the concessionaire.
