KIT Develops Compressorless Hydrogen Gas Turbine with 303 Seconds Runtime Record
HYDROGENGAS TURBINES & ENGINESFLOW CONTROL
Researchers at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) achieved a runtime record of 303 seconds with a compressorless hydrogen gas turbine. This surpasses NASA's previous record of 250 seconds and sets new standards for hydrogen energy generation.
The turbine employs pressure-gain combustion technology, eliminating the need for mechanical air compression, thereby enhancing efficiency. The team successfully generated electricity for the first time without a compressor. The gas turbine will be showcased at Hannover Messe from April 20 to 24, 2026.
