Kobe City Launches 'Forest Future City' Project to Revitalize Urban Green Spaces
CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING
Kobe City has initiated the 'Forest Future City Kobe' project, focusing on a circular economy and sustainable business opportunities from forest resources. The city aims to expand protected areas and support biodiversity-friendly businesses.
In August 2024, it became the first in Japan to be registered as an OECM in a UN database. The initiative includes transforming urban areas with trees from Mt. Rokko and engaging the community in biodiversity conservation activities.
