The Kochi Water Metro, India's first integrated electric water transport system, has attracted global interest, notably from Fiji, as well as countries like the Maldives, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, which are looking to study its model. Recently honored at the Sustainable Transport Award 2026, KMRL is now considering technological enhancements, including hydrogen-powered vessels supported by solar energy.
