Kochi Water Metro aims to generate revenue by selling carbon credits earned from emission-reducing technologies. Operating a fleet of 20 battery-operated boats, the project has saved significant carbon emissions.

A consultant is being selected to assist in the carbon credit process. By 2026, the metro expects to reduce CO₂ emissions by 22,800 metric tonnes annually, rising to 45,000 metric tonnes by 2035.
