Koehler Renewable Energy Plans Wind Farm Near Loch Achilty Raises Water Supply Concerns for Local Residents

ENERGY STORAGE

Plans for a new wind farm near Loch Achilty, developed by Koehler Renewable Energy (KRE), may disrupt the water supply of local residents John Towers and Fiona Garrow. The project could feature up to 11 turbines, each 650 feet tall, and is expected to overshadow their home.

The couple, who previously accepted the nearby Fairburn Wind Farm, are concerned about the potential impact on their newly dug well, as KRE's plans involve site alterations on the nearby hillside. They highlighted risks regarding battery energy storage safety and the potential contamination of their water sources.

KRE has stated they will address residents' concerns and that the project aims to provide community benefits, including a fund of £5,000 per megawatt generated. However, Towers and Garrow remain skeptical about the project's impact on their quality of life and urge for stronger local governance on such developments.
