Lake Crystal Seeks Bonding for Wastewater Connection to Mankato Due to Outdated Technology

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

Lake Crystal plans to connect its outdated wastewater treatment facility to Mankato via a 14-inch force main pipe. The bonding request of $27 million aims to regionalize treatment, as the current facility, established in 1985, lacks advanced nutrient removal capabilities.

Upgrading the facility would cost between $47 million and $57.5 million. Construction could start in April 2027 if included in the bonding bill.
