Launch of Carbon Destroyer 1 for CO2 Transport in North Sea Project Greensand by 2026

CARBON CAPTURE

The Carbon Destroyer 1, an offshore CO2 transport vessel, is set to commence operations in 2026 as part of the Greensand Project, enhancing carbon capture and storage efforts in the EU. Built in the Netherlands, the vessel will facilitate large-scale CO2 transport in the North Sea, connecting emitters in Denmark to offshore storage, while new terminals and projects like Northern Lights aim to significantly increase CO2 capacity by 2028. Additionally, the shipbuilding sector is responding with increased orders for new vessels, including four multigas/LCO2 ships by Capital Gas.
