The Dutch government, in collaboration with Gasunie's Hynetwork, plans to build an underground hydrogen pipeline from Ravenstein to Schinnen, with a branch to the Chemelot industrial area, to support the transition to sustainable energy. Existing natural gas pipelines will be repurposed, minimizing visible construction impacts, while new sections will be developed with public input sought from January 23 to March 5. Construction is anticipated to begin no earlier than 2030, with information sessions for residents planned to discuss the project's implications.
