The StarTran Multi-modal Transportation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, has received an Excellence in Unbuilt Architecture Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects Nebraska. Designed by HDR, the center will replace a surface parking lot with an 18-bay bus transit facility, including amenities for bicycles and pedestrians.

The estimated project cost is $33 million, funded by a $23.6 million federal RAISE grant, general funds, StarTran funds, and Capital Improvement Program funds. The project aims to create an accessible transportation hub while incorporating geothermal heat exchange and photovoltaic panels for energy efficiency. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026 or 2027.
