Maspo Energy Operates Geothermal Plant in Alaşehir Valley, Turkey for Sustainable Electricity
Maspo Energy operates a geothermal power plant in the Alaşehir Valley, approximately 80 miles from Izmir, Turkey. This facility utilizes geothermal heat from the Earth's crust, located 3,000 meters deep, to generate electricity.
Its proximity to the Kula volcanic field allows access to heat at shallower depths, enhancing feasibility compared to traditional geothermal projects that require deeper drilling. Traditional drilling faces challenges at depths over 10 kilometers, but volcanic regions simplify this process. Geological surveys confirm suitable drilling locations, protecting agricultural land and groundwater, while drilling operations typically last around 35 days.
