Louisville MSD Addresses Odor Complaints and Upgrades Infrastructure After UPS Crash
HYDROGEN
Louisville's Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) has addressed odor complaints linked to the Nov. 4 UPS crash by removing 880,000 gallons of oily runoff and replacing untrapped catch basins in older neighborhoods. Major infrastructure upgrades, including a new biosolids processing facility and a hydrogen sulfide removal system, are underway, while a settlement with JBS Foods includes a $500,000 fund for affected residents and mandates an odor-reduction system. MSD is actively monitoring neighborhoods for ongoing odor issues.
