Lummus Technology and Sumitomo Chemical have launched PMMA-CR technology, enabling the recycling of end-of-life PMMA into high-purity methyl methacrylate monomer. This advancement supports circular plastics and sustainability in the petrochemical sector.

The technology was developed through a partnership formed in May 2024 and has been validated in a pilot plant in Japan. It offers significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and allows for the production of recycled materials equivalent to virgin quality, supporting various industries in their sustainability goals.
