The Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2) has secured an $18.8 million Phase 1 award from the U.S. Department of Energy to plan and design a project aimed at producing 100,000 tons of hydrogen annually across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

The initiative, which involves 19 partners, will focus on renewable energy-driven electrolysis and is projected to create approximately 20,000 jobs, including 6,000 permanent positions, while addressing environmental justice concerns. Construction is expected to begin shortly after the 15-month planning phase, with operations aimed for the end of the decade.
