Maradu municipal chairperson Ajitha Nandakumar has prioritized waste management and sanitation projects, addressing challenges in solid waste disposal for the municipality's over 50,000 residents. Proposed solutions include utilizing the Brahmapuram solid waste management plant and establishing biogas plants, while plans to tackle the street dog population and implement public toilets are also underway. Nandakumar will share the chairperson role with Suneela Sibi for a term of two and a half years each.
