Mass Group Holding plans to invest €1 billion ($1.18 billion) in battery storage capacity in central Romania, marking the largest such investment to date. The 2.5 GW project aims to enhance grid stability amid increasing renewable energy output and declining conventional capacity.

The company’s local unit, Mass Global Energy Rom, is also constructing a 1.7 GW power plant in Mintia, expected to begin operations in September. Romania's strategy aligns with EU carbon reduction goals and addresses energy security challenges post-Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
