Mexico is participating in the U.N.-sponsored iCOAST project to enhance sustainable tourism along its coast. The initiative aims to improve competitiveness and sustainability in coastal destinations by adopting low-carbon models, reducing pollution, and promoting a circular economy. Managed by Pronatura Noroeste, iCOAST Mexico targets areas including Baja California and Jalisco, benefiting over 877,000 people and emphasizing gender equality in tourism wealth distribution.
