Michigan Approves Permit to Reduce Emissions at Graphic Packaging's Kalamazoo Mill
HYDROGEN
Michigan regulators have approved an air permit for Graphic Packaging International's Kalamazoo mill, aimed at reducing emissions by retiring two older boilers and an outdated production line. The plan is expected to significantly lower nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic compounds, while also addressing community odor concerns linked to hydrogen sulfide emissions. The permit allows for increased production on a newer machine without raising daily production caps and is not anticipated to invoke additional federal oversight.
