The Resilient Minneapolis Project is nearing completion of microgrids at the Sabathani Community Center and the Minneapolis American Indian Center, aimed at enhancing energy resilience in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Funded by Xcel Energy and various government sources, the Sabathani microgrid will incorporate solar, battery storage, and geothermal systems, with advanced grid management technology for outage resilience. Despite facing challenges, including a federal grant withdrawal, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, though future expansions may be hindered by reduced federal support.
