Mission ShakthiSAT Expands Global Outreach in Africa and Beyond for Girls in Space Science
Mission ShakthiSAT, led by Space Kidz India, is enhancing its global presence with a focus on Africa. Founder Dr. Srimathy Kesan has engaged with officials in Nigeria, Eswatini, and South Africa to strengthen cooperation in space science and education.
In Nigeria, Space Kidz India offered a 100-gram payload slot on its upcoming satellite mission for Nigerian institutions, positively received by NASRDA's Director General, Dr. Mathew Adepoju. Additionally, a BalloonSat programme was initiated in the Niger Delta to facilitate near-space experiments for students.
In Eswatini, the mission poster was unveiled with support from Senator Savannah Maziya, aiming to empower women in the space sector. Dr. Kesan also met with SANSA's CEO in South Africa to discuss collaborative opportunities. These efforts position Mission ShakthiSAT as a pivotal platform for promoting girls' involvement in space exploration.
