Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Secures Contract for Outer Vertical Targets in ITER Fusion Project

NUCLEAR

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has been awarded a contract by Japan’s National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology to manufacture 20 outer vertical targets, essential components for the ITER fusion reactor under construction in France. With this latest order, MHI will produce a total of 38 units, following previous contracts for initial production batches.

The outer vertical targets play a crucial role in stabilizing plasma within the reactor by managing heat and impurities. MHI's advanced manufacturing capabilities support its ongoing commitment to the ITER project and future nuclear fusion initiatives.
