The Mombasa county government has permanently closed the Manyimbo dumpsite near Busy Bee School to improve air quality and enhance the city's cleanliness, recently ranked as the 18th cleanest in Africa. Principal Dorothy Kaimuri highlighted the health issues caused by the site, while Tudor MCA Samir Bhaloo and environment chief Hamid Shehan assured residents of its permanent closure. The county has also shut down two other sites and established a Material Recovery Facility to manage waste effectively and promote biogas utilization.
