Montenegro and Masdar Discuss Joint Renewable Energy Projects in Strategic Talks
Montenegro's Government representatives and Masdar executives held discussions on potential joint projects in solar energy, energy storage, and hydropower. Energy Minister Admir Šahmanović and Public Works Minister Majda Adžović met with Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi in Podgorica, marking their second meeting in a short period.
They identified floating solar plants, battery energy storage systems, and hydropower as priority segments. The focus is on technically advanced and environmentally sustainable projects aligned with Montenegro's power grid development.
Montenegro aims to establish itself as a competitive player in the European energy market, with the planned construction of a second submarine cable line to Italy seen as a strategic investment. Masdar will continue technical discussions with Montenegro's power utility EPCG and transmission operator CGES to identify priority projects, with 200 MW in renewable energy currently under development.
