The City of Moorhead is collaborating with BWR Innovations to implement a hydrogen microgrid system for backup power to its IT server room. The project, funded by a nearly $170,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, aims to provide cleaner energy during outages, avoiding emissions from traditional gas generators.

The hydrogen fuel cells will generate 20 kilowatts of electricity, featuring a telemetry system for efficient power management. BWR Innovations is exploring broader applications of hydrogen technology in other sectors.
