Nascent Batteries, a Philippine startup, plans to pilot sodium-ion battery technology in 2025 to support the country's goal of achieving 35% renewable energy capacity by 2030. These batteries, designed for various applications including residential and industrial energy storage, are expected to be safer and more affordable than lithium-ion alternatives. Backed by investments from Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and First Philippine Holdings Corp., the pilot testing will last six to twelve months before moving to commercial production.
